Fasting: Day 1, 2, & 3
BREAD&SWORD
FOLLOWING JESUS
Read Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4: 1-11, Ephesians 6:10-20
Jesus also fasted just as we fast today. He fasted for forty days, and experienced hunger in the bible. It was at these moments where he was tempted by Satan himself. Satan tried to test him, but Jesus fought back by using the word of God. Satan tried to twist scripture and trap Jesus, but Jesus fought back using the word of God.
The bible is clear, spiritual warfare is upon us. From our family, to the news, to our relationships, to our work, the war has spread. It will cause you to feel alone, It will cause you to feel tempted, and it will cause you to feel overwhelmed. That is expected. That is what the world does.
However, we have a God who has given us his word, and his word is true. When he speaks, things change. We wage war with the word of God as our sword. Let’s be honest with ourselves, is the word of God memorized in our brains and buried in our hearts?
What truth do you hold on to when you are anxious, depressed, sad, or lonely? If you don’t have any memorized, that’s fine. The whole point of this fast is for more of God, and you are in the perfect place to make room for his word.
Deuteronomy 8:3 CSB
He humbled you by letting you go hungry; then he gave you manna to eat, which you and your ancestors had not known, so that you might learn that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Praying and fasting is spiritual warfare.

Your Memory Verses
Memorizing verses is not about having a big fat arrogant head!
It's about having a secure, attached, and healthy heart.
When we study about God, we study with God, so smile, he’s speaking to you, he’s with you……
For each prompt below, supply the appropriate verses. You will need your journal to write down these verses, no digital recording. Do not copy paste, write every word with your hand and paper.
This is meant to slow you down on purpose, you got time. Don’t be afraid to slow down on any verse if the spirit is causing you to reflect. We will park and dwell here for the next 3 days.
